Holy Habit 1 – Welcoming: Scripture Before Phone
Series: Holy Habits – An Invitation to Friendship with Jesus
Summary
Habit 2 – Welcoming: Scripture Before Phone
Three reasons to get Scripture into your mind first thing in the morning:
- To become more like Jesus.
Romans 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- To learn to think the way Jesus thinks.
Psalm 119:9
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.
Psalm 119:10
10 With all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me wander from Your commandments.
Psalm 119:11
11 Your word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:25
25 Revive me according to your word
Psalm 119:72
72 The law of Your mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
Psalm 119:97
97 O how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
Psalm 119:105
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
- To deepen friendship with Jesus.
John 15:4
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
John 15:5
5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
John 15:6
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
John 15:7
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Central Truth: To abide with Christ, His word must abide within us.
