Join the King's Men as we take on Mount Bierstadt (14,065 ft)—one of Colorado’s most accessible fourteeners—alongside our sons, daughters, and families. We’ll meet at the trailhead at 6:30 AM sharp.

Whether it’s your first 14er or your fiftieth, this climb is designed to be family-friendly, purpose-driven, and deeply rewarding. Mt. Bierstadt is a steady, achievable climb which is perfect for families and beginners, something that your kids/grandkids will never forget.

Where:  Mt. Bierstadt is 14,066 ft with an altitude gain of 2850 ft and is rated a class 2 climb. The round-trip distance is 7.25 miles. No technical climbing required.

Trail Conditions: Conditions, reported on May 10th, have some mud on the lower portions of the trail with some packed down snow starting at 12,000 ft.  Kevin Noe will be going to Mt. Bierstadt on May 25-26 to see conditions firsthand and decide GO/NO GO for the Kings Men Family 14er Hike.

Weather Conditions:  Kevin to decide GO/NO GO based on weather conditions. For this Kings Men to be successful, precipitation, wind and temperatures will need to be ideal.

Directions:   Proceed to I-70.  Take the Georgetown exit 228 off of Interstate 70. Drive through Georgetown and follow the signs for the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway. Drive 12 miles to the top of Guanella Pass (11,700') and park in one of the two large, paved parking areas on either side of the road. The Bierstadt trail starts near the parking area on the EAST side of the road. The upper parking area (on the west side of the pass) has restrooms. The travel time from Grace Chapel Castle Rock to the EAST parking lot will be approximately 2 hours.

Meeting Time: Meet before 6:30 am near the restrooms at the EAST parking lot. We will be leaving the meeting location promptly at 6:30 am. Total climb time dependent on the individual with average R/T time of 6-7 hours.

What To Bring: Small backpack to carry a couple bottles of water, energy related snacks. Trekking poles based on personal preference. Hiking shoes/light weight over the ankle hiking boots. Bring layers that you can add and/or subtract.  Light to medium weigh jacket. Sunglasses and a hat are highly recommended. Sunscreen
